Flights to Hawaii

flights to Hawaii, Hawaii flights, Hawaii vacation packages

It seems to be an exciting time for the market for flights to Hawaii as existing carriers are expanding their routes to and from the Aloha State.  Two news organizations just announced that both Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines are offering new Hawaii flights to and from the US mainland.

Pacific Business News just reported that Alaska Airlines launched its service between San Diego and Honolulu on Thursday and stated in their newspaper yesterday:  “Honolulu is the Seattle-based airline’s second Hawaii market from San Diego. Alaska began flying daily nonstop flights between San Diego and Kahului Maui in October 2010.  Alaska flies the Boeing 737-800 aircraft on its Hawaii routes, which seats a total of 157 passengers, including 16 in first class.  Alaska Airlines has been aggressively expanding in the Hawaii market, adding flights from the West Coast to the four major Hawaiian islands.  Hawaiian Airlines also offers nonstop flights between Honolulu and San Diego.”

The Associated Press recently reporting the following:  “Hawaii’s largest carrier will be launching nonstop flights between Honolulu and New York City starting in June 2012.  Daily service between Honolulu International Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport will begin June 4, Hawaiian Airlines announced Wednesday.  Currently, Continental Airlines offers the only nonstop flight between the Aloha State and the East Coast with a daily flight that serves Honolulu and Newark, New Jersey.”  Hawaiian Airline is reported to be offering introductory fares of $212 each way in economy class and $808 each way in first class, which are references to New York city’s 212 telephone area code and Hawaii’s 808 area code.

This must be great news for leaders in Hawaii’s tourism industry.  More flights generally mean that flights to Hawaii will ultimately lead to lower airfare prices as well as enhance the prospects for travel suppliers to offer cheap Hawaii vacation packages.
